three super-important things! \o/
bugger this
firstly, happiest of happy birthdays to Lass! I was going to post that, y'know, yesterday, but I didn't want to until the fic went up. <333333333333334569101 YOU ARE MY SUNSHIIIIIIINE, YOU MAKE ME HAPPYYYYYY WHEN SKIES ARE BLUUUUUE.

secondly, and this is kind of RL important - I need advice on buying a laptop. I don't like Macs, for starters. (I don't like working on them or their set-up style, and would need a really convincing argument to buy one.) I need a laptop that's good for graphics, is very sturdy, and as lightweight as I can get it. I want a pretty large screen, but I also need to be able to travel with it easily. I guess a 13" or 15"? And it needs to either have a lot of space on the harddrive or there needs to be an easy way for me to get more room to put stuff on. So - advice? What laptops have you found are really good? Which ones fail all the time? Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope!

LASTLY AND ALSO TOTALLY IMPORTANT. This Sunday (EST) afternoon, probably starting around 2 but maybe later, I'm going to be rewatching all the Narnia movies. Timing depends somewhat on who else can be there when. I should definitely be around all afternoon anyways. I'll be on Skype and the NFFR chat rooms and Tumblr and Twitter and pretty much everywhere and would love company.

This brought on by me having a really bad headache Monday night and rewatching bits and pieces of all three movies, and continuing to do so today. (oh my god, how come the last bit of LWW always makes me cry? SO BEAUTIFUL, SO HAPPY, SO IN CONTROL and then it is all just STRIPPED AWAY FROM THEM LEWIS I HATE YOU FOREVER.) like - I don't even want to fic, there are too many feelings to fic them. TOO MANY FEELINGS. ALL I KNOW IS FLAIL AND SQUEE.

as reference, here are the Tumblr posts I made:

so I have a horrible headache

and I’m watching Narnia to feel better (I know, I know, lol Betsy why so predictable but seriously their precious faces are so cheering).

and I would just like to re-observe that the looks Edmund gives Caspian are very, very ‘come hither’. and flirty. or ‘I am so proud of my boyfriend!’ or ‘oh my god I would hit that like lightning’. and then occasionally he just hangs out on Caspian’s balcony looking suggestive and clearly being impatient with Caspian looking at the swords instead of his really-super-seductive pose. and woooow the hug at the end.

Edmund, you are so subtle about your feelings.

and then Caspian looks at Edmund and Lucy both like he would just like to make out with them. A LOT. like all the time this is how he looks at them, when he is not busy trying to impress them. or that one time at the Glasswater when he obviously just wants to throw Edmund up against a wall.

which leads me to the obvious conclusion that actually the entire trip was just a diversion and Edmund and Caspian and Lucy spent it all making out. or other stuff.

you know.

guys I am so intelligent when headache-d, amirite?

*falls over*

still watching Voyage of the Dawn Treader

also can I just note that basically all of the battle with the serpent thingy is Edmund throwing himself off stuff or daring the dragon to eat him while everyone else alternately goes ‘yay Edmund go you!’ and ‘holy shit stop being such a dumbass and get out of it’s way!’

there is also Lucy with Susan’s bow (AWESOME) and Caspian tackling his boyfriend out of the way because Edmund apparently doesn’t know how to move anymore.

lolol guys I love this movie.

seriously Edmund stop daring sea serpents to kill you

your sister and boyfriend are really angry at you about that

(… I have reached the level of trying to pat their heads through the screen. okay Betsy, time for bed.)
tagged: edmund pevensie enjoys leaping off of tall things, and daring sea serpents to kill him, multiple times, it's his thing okay it is totally awesome!, once a fangirl of narnia always a fangirl of narnia

and then grim_lupine and I yelled back and forth at each other about our FEELINGS and how much we love these people omg omg omg.

and then I kept rewatching bits and pieces of the movies, all hearts in eyes and stuff.

(rewatching VotDT again: nnnnnnnngh boys in chains why is this cast so pretty.)

Also Doctor Who this week was spectacular. Oh, Gaiman. Thank you. I do not like all your stuff, but you did well.

Why aren't we already friends on tumblr? I have the same name over there, friend me!

I have a HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, which I love. It has a disc drive that can be replaced with a blank thing, so it doesn't weight very much when you carry it around, it's great for watching things on, excellent screen quality and resolution so very good for doing graphics, it's... 15 inches? Yet it seems pretty large or a screen, and it's very sleek, black with silvery swirls on it. I wanted to get a Mac because I got used to doing design and editing work on one, and I have to say this laptop is definitely comparable in terms of quality, without some fo the usability acquired tastes that you get with a Mac.

oh my god, how come the last bit of LWW always makes me cry? SO BEAUTIFUL, SO HAPPY, SO IN CONTROL and then it is all just STRIPPED AWAY FROM THEM LEWIS I HATE YOU FOREVER.

I feel like my life got so much freer after I allowed myself to get really bitter at Lewis and make the trial separation from The Last Battle into a permanent divorce.

oooh, thanks! that is useful. :D is it sturdy? because I am a dropper of things, unfortunately.

I try to avoid thinking about him. When I do, it is mostly just BITTER BITTER HATE.

also dear god Caspian and Edmund - the least subtle or the least subtle? seriously. SERIOUSLY. THE ARMORING UP SCENE. MY BROTHER. THE BROTHER I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE OUT WITH, SURE.

I love Toshibas, generally - they are workhorses. My old one lasted out 8 years and actually still works; it just can't cope with the speeds required for new programs/internet multimedia. They have lots of types, so you can find exactly what you need.

As for LWW, I stop the film just when it switches to the autumn forest. *cough*Ifyoudon'tseeititdidn'thappen*cough*

hmm, excellent. thank you!

it is such a beautifully filmed scene, and the dresses and the crowns and their FACES and how happyyyyyy they are! I can't help but watch through to the bitter end every time. :(

I have a Dell! Not much about graphics quality--I've been satisfied with mine but I don't do much with graphics--but I've been happy with the space. Mostly I've been *really* happy with their customer service. I got the extended warranty and they just sort of send people to fix it when I, um, spill tea on my keyboard. So that's a plug there. I think you should go somewhere and ask to play around with their displays and look at graphics!

oooh, that is good! because I am sort of good at dropping things. :/

WYRM. WYRM. ALL THE NARNIA FEELINGS. all of them. I keep disturbing my family by just wandering around with this ridiculous smile on my face going "NARNIAAAAAA".

I...have a Mac. And to be honest, I really like it. I don't know, it's just really shiny? I won't try and convince you to get a Mac, because I know they're expensive and not everyone likes them, and also I can't really come up with a coherent argument as to why I like them. However, I know that IBM makes some REALLY light laptops (my mom has one that I keep thinking is going to break, it's that light).

Also, NARNIA. asdjf;alsdk When I got my VoDT dvd, I skipped around a bit watching it and most of my reactions were just, "Hnnnng, pretty boys. Oh, hey, Caspian/Edmund subtext." XD

then occasionally he just hangs out on Caspian’s balcony looking suggestive and clearly being impatient with Caspian looking at the swords instead of his really-super-seductive pose.

THIS. Every time I watch the movie, I love and laugh over Edmund's balcony posing, but nobody else seems to notice it.

Also, argh, now I want to rewatch LWW. But I don't want to cryyyyy.

I feel like working macs is sort of an acquired taste that I... have not acquired. but thank you for the IBM rec!

so much pretty, seriously. SO MUCH. I don't even know, it's ridiculous. and the subtext! it's like they threw in a few 'I think of you as a brother's to cover up their really obvious DEEP ABIDING LOVE for each other. heeeee.

oh man just. Narnia movies make me SO HAPPY. even when I am being sad about what happens to them, SO MUCH JOY.

I'm going to say you shouldn't do an HP computer. Mine caused me alllll manner of trouble.

I think Dell tends to be okay? My friend had a Sony and was doing a fair amount of graphicking and such on it and I think that worked for her. Overall though I'm not going to have the most advice for you - just I would warn against the HP G-series PCs.

NARNIA. For reference, I should get back from work about 2pm Pacific time, but I know that might be a bit late for y'all east coasters to start, so I'll just join you wherever you are when I get in.

I'm leaning towards Dell, but not sure yet. thanks!

NARNIA NARNIA NARNIA :DDD. You'll be getting back around ... 5PM my time? So if we start at 3 you should only miss the first one! and you and I can rewatch that one together some other time. I WILL ALWAYS WANT TO REWATCH NARNIA WITH YOU. <33333333

SO IS SKANDAR KEYNES, ohhhh man. if adorable is the right word. hnnnnnnnnng.

(Deleted comment)

it will be kind of late for you. :( the sadness of you being on the other side of the world. D: you are 12 hours... ahead of me? I guess it is ahead of me. :( it'll be like 3 to 10 AM for you, so maybe you could get in on the last one at least? VODT is so beautiful, YES YES YES. just. ALL THE PRETTY THINGS.

Have to admit that I have a Mac, have for about 2/3 of a year now, and I don't think I'm ever going back, but it's obviously not going to be for everyone. My sister has a Dell and it's been giving her all sorts of trouble lately, but I know she watches a ton of stuff on it as well as going on all sorts of, well, busy websites (you know, the sort that have flash animation and games and videos and noise and the like) so I don't know how much an affect that stuff has had on it.

Naaaaaarrrrrrniiiiiiiiaaaaaaaaaa. I want to say that I'll be there on Sunday for sure, because it's about time I rewatch all the Narnia movies and I would lovelovelove to do it with you and a bunch of other Narnia fans, because it makes it that much more enjoyable, right? BUT I have no idea what I'm doing on Sunday, yet. If I'm free, it'll probably be about 3 EST or so (I think that's when it would be)- if I'm around I'll definitely just drop in and join wherever you're at.

Hmmm, what sort of trouble has it been giving her? What type of Dell is it? and what is it that you specifically like about your mac?

NARNIA NARNIA NARNIA. :DDD I just have so many FEELINGS about them all. any time you can be there would be awesome! It should take about 7 hours total, I think. So we'll probably at 3, to give the most people from the West Coast a chance to join in. :D

Well to be fair, I think he thought he was finishing up the story then and there (in LWW) and didn't know he'd be writing sequels.

Skandar's crying face kills me. That boy needs to be in more things.

NEVER OKAY NEVER OKAY he's a horrible person A HORRIBLE PERSOOOOON. he cast them out of Narnia! *sobs*

Skandar, oh man. he is just.
